 The Novels I read recently,

the following are good reads..

Hannah’s Daughters - Marianne Fredriksson:

It started slow and the style was difficult to understand (due to the translation I think).

But it got better and better. True, the story is happening in some foreign place, but every woman can relate to it. How many times I have thought about the differences between the lives of my grandma, my mother and me. What would have happened if I were to live in the society my mother was born and spent her adult life. It’s a great read. Its all there, the Woman who cannot question her lifestyle, its just the way it is, going through the hardships we cannot even imagine; The Woman in between two different life styles, aware enough to know that she doesn’t have to take things as it comes and keep mum, but not courageous enough to jump out of it; The Woman living in the current society with all this baggage on her shoulder. The forest, the sea, the garden, Mother – son relationship, Father-daughter relationship, you get everything..Its a great read..

Second time read, it would be even better, I guess. Dint get around to it.

The Divine secrets of ya-ya sisterhood – Rebecca Wells.

It explores the complex relationship between a Daughter and her mother..

It’s a good read. It made me jealous that I don’t have that thick friendship, these women share. The Southern life and such, I loved reading all those. I liked the movie too, especially Ashley Judd. Good one.

Confessions of a Shopaholic – Sophie Kinsella:

It’s a very light read. Nothing complex about it. Very funny.

And believable. Made me laugh out loud at times.

But just the first one. The sequels are not good I heard.

I started reading one sequel and it was total crap “Shopaholic and Sister”.
